Chiquita Banana: One Puff Endless Euphoria

Banana is a regular on cannabis award podiums with more than thirty awards under its belt. It has scooped the best in the game, including the High Times Cannabis Cup, the Emerald Cup, and even the Chalice California.
The most standout feature of Chiquita Banana is its 34% THC content. Best enjoyed in moderation, this strain batters even the experienced stoners for fun. As for its genetic profile, it is well balanced with 50% sativa and 50% indica properties.
Chiquita Banana’s mouthwatering buds are chunky and pebble-shaped with a deep forest green background. You can also spot yellowish and purplish hues on the tips. Breaking them leaves a greasy resin on your fingers as the abundant trichomes flood your rolling tray.

Effects and Flavor Profile
The aroma hits your senses first with subtle sweetness and a banana essence at its core. Layers of spice and cinnamon give it a grounding kush funk for a nicely balanced combination. You may also pick hints of honey and fruit salad on the exhale.
Reminiscent of the aroma, this strain’s taste reeks of ripe bananas. However, it may feel more biased towards its OG Kush genetics with a strong earthy overtone after multiple puffs. Its aftertaste is a clean and smooth creaminess that lingers on your lips.

Managing Humidity for Chiquita Banana Strain
This strain’s compact structure may aid moisture retention, which increases the risk for mold and bud rot. You will need an optimal humidity to protect the densely packed colas from moisture.
Chiquita Banana’s Humidity Requirements
This strain needs different moisture levels at each stage of its growth.
- Seedling Stage (65-70% RH): During this stage, the young plants require higher humidity to support the underdeveloped root systems.
- Vegetative Stage (55-65% RH): Once the roots start to mature, the humidity level requirements go down a little to reduce the fungal infection risk.
- Early Flowering (45-55% RH): As the plant starts to flower, the humidity requirements drop again. The gradual reduction is important as it balances between hydrating the plants and preventing mildew.
- Mid to Late Flowering (40–50% RH): After the bud formation, lowering the humidity levels further is important to stir resin production. The slightly drier conditions activate the plant’s protection mechanisms, which create resin to enhance potency and flavour on the side.
- Final Weeks Before Harvest (35-45% RH): Once the buds are matured, you should aim at drying them off. However, just a little bit of humidity helps keep the plants alive enough for the trichomes to age to maximum potency before harvest.
Indoor Humidity
If you are planning on an indoor Chiquita Banana growing setup, here are different ways of ensuring optimal humidity levels.
-
- Proper ventilation or air exchange systems can help remove the excess moisture from the grow room. In addition, oscillating fans mix the air to ensure fresh air gets to the lower buds.
- Dehumidifiers can help balance the humidity levels once they spike if you are growing in a sealed enclosure. AC units are even more advantageous as they also help in regulating the temperature.
- Placing hygrometers at different canopy levels helps to determine accurate humidity readings.
Outdoor Humidity
Outdoor elements provide unique challenges when it comes to managing humidity. Luckily, we have some tips for your setup.
-
- Avoid low-lying and wind-blocked sites that are often more prone to damp conditions. Stagnant air around your plants means stagnant moisture from watering or precipitation.
- Ensure there is adequate space between plants for optimal airflow. You should also prune the plants to remove any excess foliage that could be a moisture trap.
- A protective cover can shield the plants from extreme moisture conditions.
- Water your plants early in the morning to allow for the evaporation of any excess moisture throughout the day. Evening watering exposes the plants to prolonged damp conditions.

Origin and History
Bred by Philosopher Seeds, Chiquita Banana was initially known as Banana OG. Its renaming gave it renewed fame that boosted its sales, especially in the US. A third-place finish in the 2015 High Times Cannabis Cup marked its legendary status, making it even more popular.
This tasty bud was developed from two parents best known for their distinct characteristics. OG Kush is a cannabis classic that brings a strong foundation of high potency, earthy flavours, and a robust growing character. Its second parent, the Banana, adds to the high THC and yield potential while giving the Chiquita Banana a delightful fruity terpene profile.
Phil –
Very powerful strain with a high THC. Seeds germinated quickly and was able to get some pretty decent yield off my first grow.
