During the vegetative stage, maintain a temperature of 68-80°F (20-27°C)  and a humidity of 50% on average to support rapid growth. As the plants transition into flowering, gradually change these conditions to 65-75°F (18-24°C) and 40% humidity.

Flowering Time

With the climate having the final say, this photoperiod feminized strain is usually ready for harvest between late September and early October for outdoor growers. Indoors, it takes a little bit longer compared to other strains as it finishes in about 8-10 weeks.

Yield Potential

You can expect outdoor yields of up to 450 grams per plant when the plants are planted early enough and left to reach their full size. Planting late in season yields about 400 grams per plant. Indoors, ACDC yields between 350 and 400 grams per square meter under the right conditions.

Origin and History

ACDC has one of the most interesting origin stories. This strain is a phenotype from the world-renowned Cannatonic, one of the pioneer CBD-rich strains. ACDC was created to satisfy the demand for even higher CBD levels with minimal THC content. 

In 2011, Dr. William Courtney, a Northern California physician, got some seeds from Resin Seeds and crossed them with Cannatonic and Ruderalis genetics. The intention was to use the resultant strain as a dietary supplement for his wife’s Lupus.

Some cannabis claim the ACDC acronym comes from the Australian-based rock band from the 70s. Dr. Courtney, however, gave it as a shortened form of “Alternative Cannabinoid Dietary Cannabis.”
