Lemon Cherry Gelato: From Flavor Bomb to Feel-Good Favorite
Lemon Cherry Gelato has carved out a cult following for its strong flavor and robust punch. Bred from Sunset Sherbet and Girl Scout Cookies, it delivers a flavor-first experience with heavyweight potency. In 2021, LCG was crowned second best “Med” strain at the Michigan High Times Cannabis Cup.
This strain doesn’t play around, as it regularly clocks in at 29% THC or higher to make it one of the more potent hybrids on the market. It’s built for seasoned users who can handle a powerful high with minimal risk of getting overwhelmed. CBD levels often stay under 1% and do not impact the THC strength.
Lemon Cherry Gelato leans Indica with a 60/40 split, though it walks the line with surprising grace. The result is a calming body high that doesn’t totally knock out mental clarity. Users say it fits late afternoon or early evening sessions.
You can’t miss Lemon Cherry Gelato with its deep purple flowers accented by bright orange pistils and pops of vivid green. A frosty coating of trichomes covers the buds generously with a sugary look that hints at their strength. Handling these nugs reveals their density and stickiness that will make hash makers happy.

Lemon Cherry Gelato Grow Timeline
Here is what to expect from lemon Cherry Gelato feminized weed seeds week by week.
Weeks 1–4 (Early Growth)
Our seeds are known to germinate fast and evenly when provided with moisture, warm temperature, and clean air. After sprouting, the compact and squat seedlings are sensitive to the grow room as they build up their resistance. Avoid overwatering and overfeeding at this stage, as the roots are yet to develop fully.
After the fourth week, the seedlings start forming side branches with their signature broad leaves also coming out. You will start to see a better response to light and a preference for high temperatures to support rapid growth and development. Roots start running deep to necessitate a larger post that doesn’t limit proper development.
Through this early stage, no major feeding issues come up. Overfeeding is the most likely to happen. It is recommended to lightly feed the plants with organic nutrients rich in nitrogen. By the end of week four, it starts shaping with light training.
Weeks 5–8 (Veg to Early Flower)
This is the time for rapid stretching as well as to get bushy from the indica-leaning genetics. Consistent training techniques can help open the canopy further for maximum light penetration and optimal airflow. And once the plants hit the sixth week, start defoliating to keep them lean and clean.
From the rapid growth, Lemon Cherry Gelato plants easily deplete nutrients from the growing medium, so supplementation is required. With pre-flowers starting to pop out in week 7, it is time to switch things to usher in the next phase of development.
Being a photoperiod, flip the lighting cycle from 18/6 to preferably 12/12. Watch out for the light to the top of the canopy distance to prevent heat stress and scorching. In addition, you may flush the growing medium to get rid of any nitrogen buildup as the flowers pop out before changing to a potassium and phosphorus-rich feeding plan.
Weeks 9–13+ (Flower to Harvest)
The buds start arriving fast and thick early in week 9 and build their bulk through week eleven. You will notice the trichome stacking up nicely starting with the upper colas. With proper lighting, you will also see richer colors.
This is the time to be on top of your humidity game. These dense buds are culprits of holding moisture in their crevices, where aeration may be an issue. The answer to this is ensuring proper spacing between multiple plants and defoliation. With the help of a magnifying glass, monitor the trichomes in readiness for harvest aiming for a mix of cloudy and amber.
When ready, trim any excess branches and leaves before chopping the buds for drying. For the best-tasting buds, take your time with drying and cure with care to concentrate the terpenes and activate all the cannabinoids.

Growing Characteristics
Lemon Cherry Gelato cannabis seeds are considered of intermediate growing difficulty. With a little experience under your belt, you can get them yielding highly. This strain is relatively resistant to common pests and is highly adaptable to different growing setups indoors, outdoors, or in greenhouses.
Plant Size & Structure
This strain doesn’t tower, but it doesn’t stay small either. Lemon Cherry Gelato reaches 110 cm inside grow rooms and closer to 140 cm under the open sky. Its strong lateral branches make it a dream for shaping, especially if you’re using low-stress techniques.
Flowering Time
When it comes to flowering, Lemon Cherry Gelato seeds wrap up by the tenth week, with some finishing as early as 8 weeks under the right conditions. Outdoor growers often look forward to harvesting in early to mid October.
Yield Potential
Indoor setups can expect around 500–600 g/m², especially with proper lighting and airflow. Outdoor plants, when given space and sun, often yield up to 700g per plant or more in ideal conditions.

Pro Grow Tip : This strain prefers a slightly humid environment, so make sure to use a dehumidifier to maintain ideal levels.
Origin and History
Backpackboyz, based in California, is credited with taking Lemon Cherry Gelato from an underground favorite to a coast-to-coast sensation. While there is talk of a third strain involved in the making of LCG, it is Sunset Sherbet and Girl Scout Cookies that are responsible for this award-winning strain.
