Apple Tartz Seeds: Sweet & Balanced Bliss
After exploding into the cannabis world in 2022 after it was named the Leafly strain of the year, Apple Tartz’s light has continued to shine brighter. This strain boasts a bold aroma and taste profile that is reminiscent of its name. Born from a cross between Runtz and Apple Fritter, it is a go-to for strength and taste.
Apple Tartz usually tests around 25% THC. There’s almost no CBD here, so expect the high to hit fast. While seasoned users will feel right at home, newcomers might want to take it slow and start with just a few puffs.
This strain maintains a perfect balance of 50/50 Indica and Sativa genetics. You may, however, notice a slight tilt towards Indica in the smoke experience with its expression of a mellow body feeling that complements the already euphoric buzz. Thanks to this balance, it works well for creative afternoons or unwinding after a long day.
Blanketed in frosty trichomes, these buds shimmer like sugar under sunlight. They’re tight, sticky, and show off a rich swirl of violet tones, forest greens, and loud orange pistils.

Effects and Flavor Profile
Apple Tartz opens with a blast of tart fruit and sugary zest. As it lingers, earthy and herbaceous layers rise through, coupled with notes of fresh and slight woodiness. A faint hint of gas creeps in on the backend to give it an edge without overpowering its fresh, tangy profile.
Expect hints of creamy berry mixed with cookie dough right off from the start with a syrupy apple finish as you take more hits. And as you exhale, Apple Tartz releases warm cinnamon essence to briefly settle on your tongue with a baked crust finish that stays on.

Essential Tips for Growing Apple Tartz
Here are some key grower tips that will help you grow this strain like a pro.
Nutrient Management
Because Apple Tartz grows so fast, it might show typical signs of nutrient deficiencies. Watch your plants carefully—early detection is crucial. Maintain proper pH levels, and tweak your feeding routine to match its growth phases.
The most common deficiency is magnesium, which usually becomes evident in the early vegetative stage. When it occurs, you will note yellowing between the leaf veins, especially on the lower leaves. Adding supplemental salts helps the plants to recover in severe cases, while organic supplements rich in micronutrients act as a preventive measure.
Humidity, Temperature, and Environmental Control
This strain prefers a temperature range of between 70-85°F (21-29°C) and a humidity level of 50-60% during the vegetative stage. This optimal range is critical in healthy root establishment and steady growth without heat stress issues often seen in the second to fourth week.
Transitioning into flowering, you will need to lower the humidity gradually between the fourth and fifth weeks. Indoor setups with higher humidity should have dehumidifier systems set up. In the case of high humidity outdoors from rainfall, covering your plants will minimize the moisture absorbed by the buds.
Pest Management and Protection
Apple Tartz is prone to pest attacks, especially during its flowering stage. It is important to be proactive to prevent infestations from ruining your crop.
- Start monitoring early enough in the first week. A magnifying glass can help zoom in on tiny pests like aphids and mites.
- You will notice peak pest pressure around the third to sixth week of the vegetative stage. Managing the growing environmental conditions, such as temperature, humidity, airflow, and circulation, helps go through this stretch.
- Organic defenses such as neem oil and insecticidal soap can help prevent the infestations. You can start from the second week with a moderate application every ten days until full bloom.
- Keeping the air clean with carbon filters helps keep the pests at bay. In addition, maintain the cleanliness of your grow room and remove any dead or crowded fan leaves.

Growing Characteristics
Apple Tartz feminized strain are moderately easy to grow with the right setup. The Indica hybrid seeds are a good pick for experienced growers and tend to forgive small mistakes corrected in good time. Newbies can give them a try and still get a solid harvest by mastering the preferred conditions.
This strain grows beautifully in warm, sunny outdoor conditions, preferring good airflow and consistent humidity. It responds best to longer daylight hours, a setup that’s simple to mimic indoors. While soil or hydroponics both work, providing ample space lets it truly stretch its potential.
Plant Size & Structure
Apple Tartz grows quickly during veg, forming a compact and bushy shape. If it has room, it’ll gladly stretch a bit, but usually stays between 100 and 150 cm, indoors or outdoors.
As for the buds, they are moderately dense and exhibit a low leaf-to-calyx ratio. The disconnected cola structure with 4-5 nodes at the top gives the plants a braided structure. The stems and branches are robust enough, and when well trained, they can take the bud weight with ease.
Flowering Time
Expect Apple Tartz to finish flowering in about 8 to 9 weeks. Some growers may see earlier indoor finishes around day 52 after flipping to bloom nutrients and lighting. Outdoors, it is usually ready for the chop towards the end of September to early October.
Yield Potential
You are looking at an indoor yield of 400–500 g/m² and an outdoor haul of up to 600 grams per plant.

Pro Grow Tip : Apple Tartz thrives in both mild and warm climates and needs lots of air flow and light. Moderately a resilient strain.
Origin and History
Apple Tartz comes from the skilled folks at Clearwater Genetics, a group of growers and breeders quietly making their mark in Colorado Springs, USA. While they often operate out of the spotlight, their creation of Apple Tartz caused a buzz. Its popularity soared even further when Leafly declared it the “Strain of Summer” back in 2022.
This strain is an interesting blend of Apple Fritter and Runtz. Apple Fritter, originally crafted by Lumpy’s Flowers in Northern California, is known for its strong apple scent and a hint of spicy cinnamon. On the other hand, Runtz, which gained traction thanks to the Runtz Crew and the Cookies brand, adds a sugary-sweet fruity flavor and contributes to the strain’s well-rounded effects.
